Rules & Requirements for Mrs. C. Walker’s Reading / ELAR Class

 

* Materials

    1 – package of pens or pencils         1- Kleenex box             

     1 – pack of highlighters        1 – Composition Notebook ( Notebook will be used DAILY)            1- box of crayons            1- pack of markers                                           

 

* Organization skills will be learned and applied daily.  A spiral / Interactive Notebook will be a used on a daily basis and will count as 1 assignment grade and 1 quiz grade every six weeks.  The spiral will be left in the classroom.

    

 

* Classroom Rules

  1. Follow directions.

  2. Be courteous and respect others (peers & adults) NO swearing or bullying.

  3. Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.

  4. Be prepared with material each day (pencil, paper, homework, spiral, workbook, etc.).

  5. Follow the District Dress Code (shirt tails MUST ALWAYS be tucked in).

  6. NO food, drinks, or GUM allowed in the classroom or hallways.

 

* Positives

  •    Verbal praise/Notes sent home/Phone calls

  •    Homework pass/Computer time/Class-wide rewards

 

* Consequences

  1. Verbal Warning (begin documentation)

  2. Reprimand (contact parents)

  3. Team Conference & Refer to Counselor

  4. Team/Parent Conference & begin Discipline Contract

  5. Office Referral

 

* Class Expectations

  1. Student is expected to complete all assignments!  If class work is not finished, it will be completed as homework.

  2. All assignments must be turned in on time.  Late assignments/projects will be penalized 10 points per day up to 3 days.  

  3. Students will be responsible for any workbooks assigned to them.  If lost, it will NOT be replaced and student will be required to copy the workbook assignment on a separate sheet of paper.

  4. Students are expected to attend class on a daily basis.  Make up work is only allowed with an excused absence slip.  It is the student’s responsibility to collect all missed assignments and will have one day for every day absent to complete work.  

  5. Students must always be on time.  Seated with materials ready to start by the time the tardy bell rings.  Frequent unexcused tardiness will result in disciplinary action. Four tardies equals one unexcused absence.

  6. Students are expected to fully participate in all classroom activities.  Poor class participation and citizenship will be reflected in final grades.
